The directions of the Department's activities
Machine technology, aimed at optimizing the processes of manufacturing, assembling and connecting machine elements, as well as creating and improving new methods of shaping a wear-resistant surface layer.
List of service and research work for the industrial environment:
- selection of parameters, tools and equipment for machining and burnishing processes,
- testing the effect of processing parameters on the condition of the surface layer and performance properties
- constitution of surface layers with increased resistance to tribological wear and fatigue, using the technology of subtractive processing and burnishing technology,
- shaping lubricating micro-pockets that improve tribological properties, in particular on internal and external cylindrical surfaces, transition radii and on end faces,
- performing specialized turning, milling, drilling and grinding operations in the conditions of unit production,
- analysis of production systems aimed at identifying and eliminating losses and wastage of resources,
- designing quality, environmental and safety management systems,
- training in the use of CAD/CAM systems.
Production engineering, focused on the issues of quality assurance, safety and environmental friendliness of production and minimizing any losses and wastes arising during the production processes.
List of service and research work for the industrial environment:
- evaluation of tribological properties (friction coefficient, tribological wear, seizure resistance) of various material associations,
- determining the influence of the lubricant and the condition of the surface layer on the tribological properties (friction coefficient, tribological wear, seizure resistance),
- load tests of low-power worm gears (up to 2 kW),
- accelerated tests of durability and fatigue strength of machine elements and their connections,
- transport tests of products.
Tribology, focused on the study of the influence of topography and surface condition on tribological properties and the study of sliding nodes with atypical design of cooperating elements.

- contact and non-contact surface roughness measurements of machine and device elements,
- measurements of microhardness distribution in surface layers of machine and device elements,
- measurements of residual stress distribution in surface layers of machine and device elements,
- measurements of wettability of solids.
